Julien Doulcet

Dr Julien Doulcet graduated with a Masters degree (mention Bien) in chemistry in 2009 from ENSIACET (École Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs en Arts Chimiques et Technologiques), Toulouse, France. In 2010, he moved to the UK to carry out his PhD under the supervision of Prof. G. Richard Stephenson at the University of East Anglia (UEA). There, he worked on the asymmetric synthesis of tetrathia[7]helicene derivatives.
After being awarded his PhD in 2014, he stayed at UEA for a short post-doctoroal position under the supervision of Prof. G. Richard Stephenson where he completed the synthesis of chiral tetrathia[7]helicene donor-acceptor molecules.
In 2015, he joined the University of Huddersfield as a research assistant under the supervision of Prof. Joe Sweeney, where he worked on the palladium-catalysed Mizoroki-Heck reactions of cyclic allylamines. In 2018, at the University of Huddersfield, he worked on the synthesis of natural product Aconitine, under the supervision of Dr. Duncan Gill.
In 2018, he moved to Lancaster University for a research associate position under the supervision of Prof. Joe Sweeney. He worked on asymmetric aryne chemistry and post-polymerisation functionalisation.
In 2021, he was appointed as lecturer in chemistry at Lancaster University, where his research group is broadly interested in catalysis with focus on means to achieve greener catalytic methods for organic chemistry transformations.
